In the overwhelmingly male comic book industry, it has been a challenge for some editors and readers to see the ever growing number of talented women currently trying to make a name for themselves. With that in mind, ComicsAlliance offers Hire This Woman, a recurring feature designed for comics readers as well as editors and other professionals, where we shine the spotlight on a female comics pro on the ascendance. Some of these women will be at the very beginning of their careers, while others will be more experienced but not yet “household names.”

Jamie Kinosian is a comic artist and watercolor illustrator who has worked on character designs, mini-comics, and webcomics. She’s also currently putting together Hot Cakes, an anthology of pornographic illustrations all created by women.

  6. Dr Sketchy’s came back this month! It was a ton of fun and we had three different and fantastic models. Here are some of my five minute sketches and 20 minute ink and watercolor pieces.

  7. A few of the commissions I did during Comicpalooza, and the sketch I did during my inking demo.

  8. Psycho Girlfriend was featured by the Houston Press! Written by Meredith Nudo and Illustrated by me. :)

(Look out for more collaborations between us on the horizon)

  9. Comicpalooza was fantastic this year! I didn’t get to take quite as many pictures as I’d like because my phone battery kept draining quickly, but I got a few gems.

    A few highlights:

    • I was on several panels, but I think my favorite was the Diversity in Comics panel. Everyone asked such intelligent questions, it made for a great discussion.
    • One of my favorite purchases was a custom bee clip from radtastical!
    • I got interviewed by the Comical podcast. You can listen to it here!
  10. I HAD to get a picture with the Impala at @houstoncomicpalooza #latergram #supernatural
